In Tula region, probe launched into death of woman hit by ice mound falling from roof

The Tula Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in execution of work or provision of services that do not meet safety standards and have entailed death of a person under part 2, item “c” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code following death of a woman after she was hit by a mound of ice that fell from the roof of a building.

According to investigators, on 18 February 2017, a mound of ice fell on a 40-year-old woman going by a building on Lenina and Mira streets in the town of Aleksin the roof of which was being cleared of snow. The woman was taken to a hospital with a head injury and died there shortly despite all the efforts of doctors.

At present, the investigators continue conducting necessary investigative and procedural operations to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The roof of the house has been examined. Eye witnesses and workers of a building management company have been questioned. Necessary forensic examinations have been ordered. The persons who let the violations happen are going to be charged. The investigation is ongoing.
