Probe in stealing during laying cable line in Kronstadt finished

The second department (based in the city of Saint Petersburg) of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office has finished criminal proceedings against former top managers of the Department for Facilities under Construction, a branch of energy and electrification Lenenergo, a public corporation, Dmitry Gapon and Alexander Fyodorov charged with abuse of authorities under part 2 of Article 201 of the RF Penal Code, as well as against former managing director of OOO UK Vremya, a limited liability and managing company of OOO TriNiti Trust Alexander Isayev accused of a fraud on a very large scale under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, in 2014, in Saint Petersburg Gapon, Fyodorov and Isayev signed documents containing false information on the purchase and supply of a cable under a subcontract on laying the cable line on the bottom of the Gulf of Finland between the settlement of Lisiy Nos and the town of Kronstadt needed for more reliable power supply in Kronstadt. However, no cable was purchased as well as no work was done.

Carrying on with their wrongdoings Gapon, Fyodorov and Isayev signed false acceptance certificates of construction according to which the said cable line was laid, ready to be put into operation and met all necessary requirements and government standards. The accomplices stole more than 388 million rubles.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the signed indictment will be referred to court shortly.
