Alexander Bastrykin holds briefing on investigation in St. Petersburg metro bombing

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin finished a briefing with an investigative team at 12:30 AM. He heard interim results of the investigation in the terrorist attack on the Saint Petersburg metro. The briefing was attended by representatives of the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry.

The Chairman was reported on the investigative operations. By the present moment more than 40 witnesses, metro employees and the train crew have been questioned. A large number of items and pieces of CCTV footage have been seized and are now being carefully analyzed by experts and criminalists.

The investigators have found the residence of Akbarzhon Dzhalilov who had presumably set off the bomb, and searched it. CCTV footage shows how he leaves the house carrying a bag and a rucksack.

Two more of the victims have been identified, leaving only one yet to be identified. Today’s morning the investigators are going to start giving the bodies to the families.

General of Justice of the Russian Federation Mr. Bastrykin gave an order to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and to check all the data on the suspect, including his links to possible accomplices from among members of IS.
