All victims of St. Petersburg terrorist attack identified

The Investigative Committee’s Major Cases Directorate continues the investigation in a terror attack that took place on the Saint Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017 (Article 205 of the RF Penal Code).

By now investigators have identified all the killed in the attack (the list is provided below). Maria Nevnerzhitskaya was tentatively identified, while Yulia Krasikova and Dmitry Mazanov were identified today.

As for Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, who the investigators believe set off the bomb on the train, was identified by a DNA test. The procedure was held in the presence of his parents and they confirmed his identity. The investigators are looking in Dzhalilov’s connections and friends to find information relevant to the investigation.

The investigators keep on giving the bodies to the relatives.

An improvised explosive device discovered at the Ploshchad Vosstaniya metro station was sent for an examination, which determined its type, power, kind of shrapnel it used and other details. Items seized from Dzhalilov’s home (duct tape, foil and others) were also sent for an examination. According to preliminary information they are identical to the fragments of the bomb found at the Ploshchad Vosstaniya station, but final conclusion will be made only after the results of the examination are released.

At present, the investigative team is actively working in cooperation with the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of the Interior to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime, reasons and contributing factors.
