Men involved in killing police officers in Astrakhan put on federal and international wanted lists

The Astrakhan Region Office of the Investigative Committee has identified the men who killed traffic police officers on the night of 4 April. Investigative and search operations were conducted in cooperation with regional offices of the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service. The suspects are named Nurbol Saspanov, from the settlement of Stepnoi, Krasny Yar District, Astrakhan Region, has previous convictions for a robbery; Ramzan Kukulayev from Krasny Yar District, Astrakhan Region; Ramzan Sultanmuradov from Gudermess District, Chechen Republic and Ilyas Magomedov from Lebashi District, Dagestan.

At about 12:27 AM on Tuesday some unknown people shot at two traffic police officers on duty near Magistral shop in Avtozapravochnaya Street in Leninsky District of Astrakhan. The attackers shot the officers to death, stole their service guns and then fled.

Saspanov, Kukulayev, Sultanmuradov and Magomedov are charged with an attempt on law enforcers under Article 317, stealing of weapons under part 4, item “b” of Article 226, illegal storage of firearms and ammunition under part 2 of Article 222 of the RF Penal Code. All of them have been put on federal and international wanted lists. A court has ruled to place them in custody in absentia.
