The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against 16 people, including head of Moscow territorial department of ritual services No 3 Ritual, a state-financed institution, Yuri Chabuyev, former police officer of the Khamobniki District Police Department Nikita Moshenko and organizer of the mass riots Alexander Bocharnikov. Depending on the role of each one, they are charted with organization of mass riots under Part 1 of Article 212, participation in mass riots under Part 2 of Article 212, infliction of grievous bodily harm entailing death of two people under Part 4 of Article 111 and exceeding authority entailing grievous consequences under part 3, item “c” of Article 286 of the RF Penal Code.
According to investigators, nn 14 May 2016, three people were killed and more than 30 were wounded during a fight and a shootout near the central entrance to Khovanskoye cemetery in Moscow.
It was established that Chabuyev, Georgy Makaryev and Bocharnikov had organized mass riots to oust working migrants, citizens of Tajuikistan, from Khovanskoye cemetery.
One of the accused admitted the guilt and gave evidence against other people involved in the crimes.
The investigation was complicated by a large number of investigative and procedural operations, and forensic examinations such as ballistic, medical, portrait, DNA and dactylographic ones.
The accused and their lawyers have started reading more than 100 case files under Article 217 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code.
