In Astrakhan Region, investigators keep on looking in attack on law enforcers

The Astrakhan Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation in killing traffic police officers on the night of 4 April and wounding an officer of the Russian Guards on the night of 6 April 2017. The cases were opened in attempt on law enforcers under Article 317, illegal storage of firearms and ammunition under Article 222 and stealing of weapons under Article 226 of the RF Penal Code.

As became known earlier, the accused were killed, their motive was hostility towards law enforcers and one of the aims getting hold of the weapons to use them in other crimes including murders of police officers.

By now the investigators have identified almost everyone from the circle of each of the attackers and their relatives. All of them are going to be checked on having been involved in other crimes including extremist ones and on being members of extremist organizations prohibited in Russia.

The investigators have also located the driver of the vehicle the accused tried to escape in from officers of the Russian Guards. To get his car, the accused had threatened him and his family.

The investigation is ongoing.
