Criminal investigation against Deputy Chairman of Omsk Region Government Stanislav Grebenshchikov underway

The Russian Investigative Committee have started criminal investigation against Deputy Chairman of Omsk Region Government Stanislav Grebenshchikov in crimes under Part 2 of Article 285 of the RF Penal Code (Abuse of official powers).

According to investigators, Grebenshchikov being a state official of the constituent of the Russian Federation used his official powers to organize payment in total sum of 14 million rubles to contractor StroyInvestKomplekt knowing that this contractor doesn’t fulfill contract obligations and has a state debt for prepayments that were received earlier.

Abuse of official powers by Grebenshchikov lead to significant violation of state interests, as allocated federal budget funds for reconstruction of the cultural facilities were not used in contract and the facility was not reconstructed, as well as significant violation of rights and legitimate interests of a credit organization that issued bank guarantee for fulfilling of a state contract, which caused material damaged in the form of losses resulted by payments for bank guarantees.

The criminal case has been referred to the 5th Investigative Directorate (in Novosibirsk) of the Head Office of the Investigative Committee.
