Local resident of Moscow accused of child abduction from Dedovsk town hospital in 2014

The Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee has accused the 40-year-old resident of Moscow in abduction of a child from a ward of Dedovsk town hospital under Item E, Part 2 of Article 126 of the RF Penal Code.

The investigation has revealed that on 17 June 2014 the 40-year-old woman decided to abduct an infant from the children ward in order to deliberately present him as her own to her husband. She entered children ward and abducted a boy, as there were nobody to detect her. Without any resistance she left the building with a child and until January 2017 she fostered him.

On 11 January 2017 the woman gave the child to police, who arrived to her home due to investigative operations. In accordance with the legislation, the child was passed to the child protection services of the Moscow Region Ministry of Education.

Currently the Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee carries out investigative operations to gather evidence. Legal assessment to actions of the woman and her husband will be carried out. Further legal status of the abducted child is not included into Investigative Committee’s responsibilities, specialized state agencies will decide on the fate of the boy.
