The Buryatia Republic Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a probe against the head of Gremyachinskoye municipal unit due to fire in the settlement of Cheryomushki, Pribaikalsky District that caused major damage to houses of the residents. She is accused in negligence under Part 1.1 of Article 293 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, in accordance with Fire Safety Regulations, the settlements that are located on the border with forestry, as well as located on peat soil must construct anti-fire mineralized stripes, remove (gather) dry plants and carry out other measures that can prevent spread of fire. These responsibilities, set by the Federal legislation, lie on local governments. But the head of the Gremyachinskoye municipal unit that located in the settlement of Cheryomishki carried out insufficient preventive efforts.
