Investigative Committee’s Head Office takes over probe in arson of investigative department

An investigation in arson of an investigative department under Part 2 of Article 167 of the RF Criminal Code has been taken over by the Investigative Committee’s Head Office. Experienced investigators and criminalists of the Head Office have been dispatched to the crime scene.

As became known earlier, on the night of 19 May 2017, some unknown persons set fire to the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky District investigative department located in the settlement of Gazoprovod. The fire destroyed offices on the second floor, including those where criminal cases were kept.

The investigators and criminalists of the Forensics Directorate are going to examine the scene carefully using latest forensic equipment to find and document the traces related to the investigation.

Along with the version that those who set the fire did that to destroy files of major cases in order not to be arrested, the investigators are going to check other possible options as well.
