Probe launched in dogs attacking child in Khakassia

The Khakassia Office of the Investigative Committee got a report on 3 June 2017 that two Staffordshire terriers bit a child in Domracheyev Street in the village of Kaibaly, Altaisly District.

The Abakan Department of the Investigative Committee opened an investigation in grievous bodily harm by negligence under Part 1 of Article 118 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, the child’s mother and her partner were employed by the owner of the household and lived there with the child.

At about 8 PM on 3 June 2017, the dogs got out of a closed enclosure and attacked the 3-year-old. The mother and the partner tried to drive off the dogs, but only the owner of the house was able to get them back to the enclosure.

The child was taken to the intensive care unit of the Abakan Interdistrict Clinical Hospital with multiple bites to his face and body, pneumothorax and an open fracture of left shoulder-blade.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigators are going to assess the actions of the house owner.

The investigation is ongoing.
