Three more probes launched in use of prohibited means and methods of warfare by Ukrainian army

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee has opened three more investigations in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare under Part 1 of Article 356 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, from 7 to 13 June 2017, Ukrainian military servants followed criminal orders of higher commanders from the Ministry of Defense and fired heavy artillery weapons at civilian infrastructure located in Lugovskaya Street in the city of Donetsk, the towns of Kirovsk and Stakhanov.

2 civilians, including an 80-year-old woman were killed, two more people were wounded, 7 houses and constructions on the premises of a plant were destroyed.

The ones who committed those major crimes violated the Minsk Protocol, the Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (Geneva, 1949) and its follow-up protocol II. It is obvious that their aim was to kill as many civilians as possible for the reasons of political and ideological hatred as the population of the southeastern Ukraine refuse to recognize the current authority as legitimate and want to create isolated administrative-territorial entities.

The investigators are now working to identify officials of Ukraine military agencies involved in the crimes.
