Alexander Bastrykin orders head of Moscow Region Directorate to ask Prosecutor’s Office permission to take over probe in Balashikha road accident leaving child dead

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered the head of the Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee to ask Moscow Region Prosecutor permission to take over an investigation in a traffic accident that left a 6-year-old child dead.

Mass media earlier reported that a car ran over a boy in the town of Balashikha and dragged him at least 10 meters. 2.7 ppm of alcohol was found in 6-year-old boy’s blood. The boy’s family demands another test and claim that the witnesses were pressured, while the police had refused to open an investigation for around a month and some of the evidence were destroyed.

Investigators of the Moscow Region Directorate are already looking into negligence of the experts examining the boy’s body (Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Criminal Code).

If the request is denied on regional level, it will be taken to the RF Prosecutor General’s Office.
