Leaders and members of units of Misanthropic division, extremist organization banned in Russia jailed

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Investigative Committee’s Head Office as sufficient to convict leaders and members of units of Misanthropic Division, an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation, Russian citizens Vitaly Tsaruk, Viktor Pekhterev and Kirill Khalepo. They were found guilty of 9 counts of extremist and terrorist crimes.

The court and investigators have revealed that in October 2013, Dmitry Pavlov, a Belorussian citizen, racist and neo-Nazi created Misanthropic Division which acted via Internet.

The materials posted on different websites aimed at disparagement of Caucasian and Asian national (ethnic) groups, incitement of hatred and enmity to Jews, Negroid race, Muslims, propaganda of the Division’s ideology and activities, Promotion of Nazi (fascism) ideology, racism, justification of extremism and terrorism.

The court has sentenced Tsaruk to 3 years 2 months in a minimum-security prison, Pekhterev to 3.5 years in a minimum-security prison and Khalepo to 3 years in a penal settlement.

The Krasnoyarsk Territory Court recognized the interregional national-radical association Misanthropic Division as an extremist organization in July 2015 and banned its activity in the Russian Federation. Some of its members have already been convicted of extremist crimes, while others are still under investigation.

The Investigative Committee in cooperation with other law-enforcement authorities is going to continue actively working to counter criminal activity of the organization promoting neo-Nazism, racism and hatred.
