The Maritime Territory Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating a murder of a woman and her underage son committed 23 years ago in the town of Ussuriysk.
Dead bodies of the 36-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son were found on 17 September 1993 in a flat in Proletarskaya Street in Ussuriysk. Both were stabbed to death. Some jewelry and fur coats had been stolen from the flat. The suspect was a 27-year-old acquaintance of the woman. He was apprehended and arrested, but denied all the charges. With scarce evidence, investigators had to release the man and suspend the probe.
However, crimes committed in previous years are under special control at the regional investigative authority. The case has been reopened and the investigators continued working together with police officers. During the investigative and search operations the man has confessed to the crime. He has been apprehended, arrested and charged with murder under items “a”, “f” and “h” of Article 102 of the RSFSR Criminal Code.
The investigators have taken the accused to the crime scene where he showed how he had committed the crime.
According to investigators, on 17 September 1993, the man was in the woman’s flat and attacked her to rob. He stabbed her multiple times, then took the jewelry and fur coats. The woman’s son saw the murder, so the man killed the boy in the same manner.
The investigation is ongoing.
