In Chuvashia, local resident charged with killing missing girl in Tsivilsk

The Chuvashia Office of the Investigative Committee has charged a 23-year-old unemployed man from the town of Tsivilsk with murder of a minor under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code.

He has been taken to custody today pending trial.

According to investigators, on 15 June 2017, the accused took an 11-year-old girl into his garage and strangled her to death. He then locked the garage with the body inside and took off fearing to be caught. A probe was launched in disappearance of the girl. A massive search operation was mounted.

During urgent investigative and search operations investigators and police officers requested the data on owners of all garages located in the search area. After they got all the information needed they determined persons of interests among the garage owners. When they went to examine the garages, they discovered the girl’s body with signs of violent death in one of them.

The suspect was found and held on 22 June 2017.

At present, investigative operations are ongoing, including those with the suspect, who has confessed to the crime. The investigators are not going to disclose all the details of the crime for the time being. They are now working to find out all the circumstances surrounding the murder. A number of forensic examinations have been ordered, including a medical one, a DAN test, a biological one and others.
