The Sebastopol Territory office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against a 29-year-old woman from the city of Sebastopol charged with deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm to a minor under part 2, item “b” of Article 111, torture under Part 2, item “d” of Article 117, endangerment under Article 125 and failure to discharge parental duties under Article 156 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, on 17 February, the woman hit at least 10 times and kicked at least 5 times her 5-year-old daughter to punish her for a broken mirror. She then left leaving the beaten child alone.

The investigators also found that the woman regularly beat her daughter between January 2015 and February 2017. The mother failed to discharge her parental duties, she did not take elementary steps to develop her daughter physically, mentally and socially or to educate her.

The girl was taken from her mother by investigators for safety reasons. The mother is going to be deprived of custody.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
