Former vice-governor of Maritime Territory to stand trial for abuse of office

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against former vice-governor of Maritime Territory Oleg Yezhov charged with abuse of authority under Part 3 of Article 285 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, between 6 and 20 December 2013, being director of the Maritime Territory Town Building Department and aware of the construction under a government contract and a target-specific program had not been finished, Yezhov still used his authority and despite interests of his service signed acceptance certificates, cost and expense certificates, the bill and cash expense claim. Based on those documents OOO Primorye Development, the contractor, received payment for construction, part of which was not finished.

Those actions entailed considerable violation of interests of the society and state protected by law, as well as grievous consequences as failure to implement the Maritime Territory program “Protection of people and territories against emergency situations, ensuring fire and water safety in Maritime Territory 2013-2020”. The 12th unit of the Maritime Territory Fire Service did not get a new building and the crime caused the region’s budget a damage of more than 24,6 million rubles.

The investigators have enough evidence so the indictment has been signed and the case will soon be referred to court.
