Dead bodies of 2 men, a 10-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy were recovered from Lake Maksimka, Chesma District (near the settlement of Chesma) on the evening of 2 July 2017.

The Chelyabinsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in negligent homicide of 2 or more people under Article 109 of the RF Criminal Code. According to preliminary information, a man and his children and his relatives’ children were sailing a boat and turned over. Two men swam from the bank to save them, but drowned. Bodies of the man, the 8-year-old and 15-year-old boys are being searched for.

Investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators, police and rescuers are working at the scene. Criminalists of the Investigative Committee have been dispatched to the scene following the order of the head of the regional investigative authority.
