Investigative Committee Chairman personally looks into case against woman found guilty of attempted murder in Altai Territory

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has personally looked into the criminal proceedings initiated against resident of Barnaul Oksana Tkachenko and ordered his subordinates to carefully, not intervening in the jurisdiction of prosecutor’s office or courts, analyze the case files to check if the Altai Territory Office of the Investigative Committee ran a full, all-round and impartial investigation.

The Altai Territory Office investigated a case against the 33-year-old woman charged with attempted murder. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

After the verdict was announced, mass media argued that it was unjust and too severe. They reported that the woman had shot a non-fatal gun at her ex-husband trying to protect herself and her child.
