Alexander Bastrykin orders cases being solved by Sverdlovsk Region Office in crime against minor and negligence of officials taken under control at Central Office

Following order of Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin criminal cases over a crime committed against a 13-year-old girl from Yekaterinburg under Part 3 of Article 134 and over negligence of officials under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Criminal Code have been taken under control by the Investigative Committee'’ Central Office.

In June 2017, the Ykaterinburg police got a report that the 13-year-old girl gave birth to a son in April 2017. The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee opened an investigation sexual connection with a person under the age of 14 under Part 3 of Article 134 of the RF Criminal Code.

In addition, the office opened an investigation in negligence under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Criminal Code committed by officials of children’s crime prevention system responsible for preventing crimes to be committed against children. According to investigators, the officials of the guardianship authorities had failed to check living conditions of the girl, to look into her relatives, circle of friends and her lifestyle. The said officials also failed to take other steps to prevent any wrongdoings against the teenager, basically putting the girl, whose mother died and father lives separately, in a socially dangerous position.

The investigators are questioning the girl’s relatives and acquaintances, school staff and the officials of the children’s crime prevention system. They have requested and are analyzing necessary documents and have ordered some forensic examinations. Necessary measures are being taken to identify the baby’s father and to look into the girl’s living conditions. The girl has had necessary psychological assistance. The investigators are taking steps for the baby to have most comfortable conditions.
