Probe launched in shelling civilian infrastructure in Donetsk by Ukrainian army

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare under part 1 of Article 356 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators Ukraine’s military servants yet again violated the Minsk Protocol on ceasefire in some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions and withdraw heavy military equipment.

At about 11 PM on 10 July 2017, military servants of the Ukraine’s Armed Forces and National Guard followed criminal orders of higher commanders from the Ministry of Defense and fired heavy artillery weapons at civilian infrastructure located in Petrovsky District of the city of Donetsk, wounding a 63-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman. The shelling damaged or destroyed several residential buildings in Zelyony Gai Street and Galichskaya Street in Donetsk.

The motive for that major crime was political and ideological hatred as the population of the southeastern Ukraine refuse to recognize the current authority as legitimate and want to create isolated administrative-territorial entities.

At present, investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and to identify those involved in it.
