In Kurgan Region, man found guilty of killing family and jailed for life

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Kurgan Region Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict Sokhibzhon Mamasoliyev, 26. He was found guilty of violation of sanctity of the home under part 1 of Article 139, murder of two or more people under part 2, item “a” of Article 105, theft under Part 2, item “c” of Article 158 and stealing of firearms and ammunition under Part 1 of Article 226 of the RF Criminal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that a married couple and their 19-year-old daughter with gunshot wounds were found on the evening of 16 November 2016 in a house in Yevropeisky block in the village of Lukino, Ketovo District, Kurgan Region. The day before, when nobody was home. Mamasoliyev broke into the house, broke open a metallic box and stole a hunting rifle. He then waited until the owners of the house came back home and killed them in cold blood. The killer used to work for the owners as a constructor and repairman. The motive for the crime was a personal conflict between the owner of the house and the accused. Fleeing the scene, Mamasoliyev stole victims’ cell phones, the rifle and ammunition to it.

The murder had wide public resonance in Kurgan Region. Thanks to well-planned meticulous work done by the investigators in close cooperation with officers of operative services the possible picture of the crime was restored in a short time. They identified people who might have been involved in the crime. The result of these joint efforts was that the suspect was identified and then apprehended. The man had to confess to the crime under the load of the evidence. He told the investigators details of the crime and demonstrated on the scene how he had killed the family, showed the place where he had hidden the murder weapon and stolen things.

More than 50 different forensic examinations were run to get the evidence, including DNA< dactylographic, ballistic, traceological, merchandising and others. A forensic psychiatric examination found Mamasoliyev sane and capable of appreciating his actions.

The court has sentenced Mamasoliyev to life in prison and awarded the victims damages.
