Members of cell of international terrorist organization jailed in Rostov –on-Don

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the North Caucasian Federal District Directorate of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict residents of Kabardino-Balkaria Ruslan Buttayev, Islam Osmanov and Islam Efendiyev. They were found guilty of membership in a cell of ISIS, an international terrorist organization prohibited in the Russian Federation, illegal circulation of firearms, ammunition and explosive devices committed by an organized group and illegal drug dealing on a large scale under Part 2 of Article 205.5, Part 3 of Article 222, Part 3 of Article 222.1 and Part 2 of Article 228 of the RF Criminal Code.

The court and investigators have established that in 2015, Osmanov, Buttayev and Efendiyev joined a cell of ISIS based in Kabardino-Balkaria and created by V. Zankishiyev wanted for major crimes, including terrorist attacks (he was killed during a counterterrorist operation in the town of Nalchik in November 2015). Between January and February 2016, the accused were detained by law enforcers and proved guilty of the said crimes.

The court has sentenced Buttayev, Efendiyev and Osmanov to 5. 7 and 8 years in a minimum-security correctional facility.
