Probe launched in bankruptcy of VIM airlines

The Volga Area Transport Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in fraudulent bankruptcy of OOO VIM Airlines under Article 196 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, managers and owners of VIM Airlines aware that the company was in unstable financial condition, concluded in 2016 and 2017 obviously not profitable deals, including those aimed at withdrawing assets abroad to affiliated companies. The contracts entailed great financial expenses and led the company to insolvency.

Some of the contracts VIM Airlines concluded with foreign companies did not stipulate the exact price of the deals, therefore the airlines had to pay much more. As the company had no money to pay up, their loan debts reached billiards rubles.

As the company could not pay up the creditors, in order to create favorable conditions for the assessment of financial situation in the company by the creditors and authorized state bodies, the CEO and other people among owners and management of the company ordered employees of the accounting office to doctor reports, hide high big debts, state small income instead of losses by putting false information on the date the expenses were registered, state posting of proceeds from selling air transportation services which had not yet been provided.

The crime was revealed by the Volga Area Transport Prosecutor’s Office during checks.

The investigators are working to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime.
