15-year-old girl transported to Russia from Turkey

A 15-year-old girl has been transported today from Turkey to Russia, thanks to close cooperation of the Investigative Committee, the office of the Children’s Ombudsman and Russian Foreign Ministry. The girl is going to be questioned in the presence of a psychologist and teachers.

The Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee is going to find out whether any crime was committed against the girl, all the circumstances surrounding her leaving to Turkey, living conditions, relationships in the family and at school, her close circle and study her chats in social networks. In addition, the investigators are working to establish whether any crimes were committed against her both in Russia and abroad and check actions (omission) of inspecting authorities.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin gave explicit instructions to his subordinates and ordered the Central Office to supervise the investigation, once he learned about the situation.

To protect rights of the teenager, the Investigative Committee urges the media and public to refrain from making the information excessively sensational or spreading false information, all claims and facts are going to be checked as part of the probe. We ask those who have any information on offences against the girl, to get in contact with the investigators.
