Probe finished in obstructing filming crew of federal TV channel in Lipetsk Region

The Lipetsk Region office of the Investigative Committee has finished an investigation against a 68-year-old resident of the town of Yelets, charged with obstruction of legal professional activity of journalists by damaging property aggravated by threat of violence under Part 3 of Article 144 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, on 16 March 2017, the accused damaged a microphone held by a correspondent. By his actions the accused caused a damage of over 22 thousand rubles. The man then took a crowbar and started threatening the crew. The reason for the incident was the fact that the crew was making a report for Vesti, Dezhurnaya Chast (Rossia 1) about several investigations into firearms and drugs in the house of former mayor of Yelets.

The accused denied all the charges and said that he had been provoked. However, the investigators disproved the claim by the evidence – statements of witnesses, results of confrontations and footage of the conflict. By now, the criminal fires have been forwarded for the indictment to be signed and will then referred to court.
