Probe in house collapse in Udmurtia

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee continues an investigation in unsafe services entailing death of two or more people under Part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code after a section of an apartment building collapsed in the town of Izhevsk on 9 November 2017.

5 bodies, including two children, have been pulled from the rubble. Another four people were taken to hospital, while a woman died in a hospital. One more resident of the house is missing.

Investigators have questioned more than 50 people, including residents of the house and workers of servicing organizations. They are now studying footage from CCTV cameras and documents confiscated from organizations providing services to the house – AO Gazpromgazraspredeleniye, a branch office in Izhevsk and OOO UK Vest-Snab, and examining other physical evidence found at and taken from the scene.

Preliminary examinations have found no traces of explosives. The presumable epicenter of the incident is a flat on the third floor. Necessary examinations have been ordered. The main version of the collapse is a gas explosion.

The investigators are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the incident and identifying those guilty of that.
