Probe launched in taking children to hospital with signs of chlorine poisoning in Ulyanovsk Region

The Ulyanovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in hospitalization of two children in hospital with symptoms of chlorine poisoning under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, on the night of 25 November 2017, two children aged 12 and 8 were to the Sengilei District Hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of chlorine poisoning. On 24 November 2017, the children and their parents went to a private sauna in Nekrasov Street in the town of Sengilei, where they might have been poisoned while swimming in the pool. Having been treated, the children were discharged in satisfactory condition.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigators have seized documents found at the sauna, taken samples of water from the pool and ordered necessary tests. The investigation continues.
