Investigative Committee Chairman orders Central office supervise check into death of sailor in Sea of Okhotsk

A federal TV channel has shown today a program discussing the death of sailor Alexander Yerin who drowned in the Sea of Okhotsk after he had set crab snares and gotten tangled in one of them. The sailor’s wife is sure that both when the crab snares were set and later when “Man overboard!” signal sounded, the captain and the crew committed a lot of violations, however, the family have not been able to make the authorities to start an investigation for a long time.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered the head of the Far Eastern Transport Office of the Investigative Committee to report to him immediately the progress and results of the check into the Sailor’s death. The Committee’s Central Office will be in control of further checks into the incident.
