Probe finished into brutal murder of woman and three children in Ryazan Region

The Ryazan Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished an investigation opened into a murder of two or more people, including a minor, with special brutality under part 2, items “a”, “c” and “e” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code, after bodies of a 33-year-old woman and her three sons aged 13,11 and 3 were found on the evening of 2 April 2017 in a flat in the settlement of Iskra, Ryazan Region with multiple stab wounds. The murderer was detained on hot scent.

According to investigators, a 30-year-old man was living with his ex-wife and three of her children, one of whom they had together. The woman and the man quarreled because the man abused alcohol and was jealous. After yet another fight on the evening of 2 April 2017, the man stabbed his ex-wife multiple times until she was dead. Then he stabbed to death all three of the children.

The nature of the crime and personality of the suspect were the reason to have the man evaluated by psychiatrists. The evaluation showed that the man suffers from a mental disorder and was not answerable for his actions when committing the crime.

At present, the criminal case has been referred to court to decide on committing the man into a mental hospital.
