The Irkutsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in violation of environment protection rules during execution of work under Article 246 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, in August 2017, a leak of water containing chemicals happened at refuse dumps in Shelekhov District and contaminated soil. According to preliminary investigation, the damage is estimated at over 40 million rubles.

At present, investigators are working to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation continues.
