Man detained in Leningrad Region on suspicion of killing minor in Otradny

Investigators of the major cases department, criminalists of the Leningrad Region Office of the Investigative Committee together with officials of the Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region Directorate of the Interior Ministry detained a 35-year-old man on 20 December 2017 on suspicion of murder under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code.

There is an ongoing investigation in disappearance of a 10-year-old boy, who went missing in the town of Otradnoye, Kirovsk District, Leningrad Region on 28 October 2017.

During their painstaking daily work, the investigators and police officers got information about a man possible involved in the boy’s disappearance. It is a resident of Saint Petersburg who have multiple previous convictions.

The man is known to have met the boy at a railway station and invited him to his relatives’ flat in the town of Otradnoye, where he started drinking alcohol. The man then tried to assault the boy, but was rejected and, being drunk as he was, he strangled the boy, dismembered the body and hid parts in different places in Leningrad Region and the city of Saint Petersburg.

At present, the suspect is being questioned to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation continues.
