The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has launched a check following media reports on frauds committed against elderly residents of Moscow.
A federal TV channel has shown today a coverage saying that employees of OOO Energia issued loans under which citizens lost ownership of their flats. Some 40 people were defrauded of their properties, including a woman that had survived the siege of Leningrad. The coverage went on saying that nobody has been held answerable for it.
Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has taken the check under control. He has ordered that all the circumstances reported in the coverage should be checked in the most careful manner and that all the actions that caused the people to have lost their homes should get legal assessment.
