Man detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of attempted murder of children bus driver

The Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee continues investigation in attempted murder of a bus driver transporting children under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code joined in a single case with proceedings opened into disorderly behavior under Part 1, item “a” of Article 213 of the RF Criminal Code.

Investigators together with officers of the Saint Petersburg police department have detained the attacker – Alizade Mustafayev. He is now expecting arrest and charges.

According to investigators, on the evening of 25 January 2017, Mustafayev and an acquaintance of his Zulfiya Saidmuratova tried to kill the bus driver transporting school children, their teachers and parents.

Mustafayev stabbed the bus driver multiple times, while Saidmuratova struck him with unidentified object. After that they jumped into a Range Rover and took off.

The victim in grave condition was taken to a hospital, where he now is getting qualified medical aid.

Active efforts are being made to detain Mustafayev’s accomplice.

The investigation is under personal control of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee.
