The Russian Investigative Committee pays special attention to investigating crimes committed against minors, to protecting their rights and legal interests. A number of mass media and social networks have been publishing a video address to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee asking for his help and complaining about the work done by investigators in Nizhny Novgorod Region conducting a probe against a 39-year-old man charged with a sex crime against a minor. In the video, the victim and her family offer their option of the crime and point to violations of the Criminal Procedure Code during the probe.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered that the case should be passed over to the Head Office for thorough and impartial investigation.

Mr. Bastrykin also instructed a corresponding office to check decisions made by the investigations during the probe and to report back to him as soon as possible. The Chairman is going to take control over further investigation.
