Alexander Bastrykin orders check into legality of procedural decision made over probe against military man who hit child in Kamchatka

On 19 January 2018, two seventh-graders were playing at snowballs and one of them hot a car belonging to a military man. The man got out of the car and though the children apologized hit one of them twice on his face and took off. It took several days to identify the man. The Investigative Committee’s military office opened an investigation, but then dropped it.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered the Military Directorate to check if procedural decisions made in the course of the probe were legal and impartial and to report the results back to him.
