Irkutsk investigators and police prevent contract murder

The Irkutsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in plotting a contract murder under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 33, Part 2, item “h” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code.

During joint operations, investigators together with officers of the organized crime office of the Irkutsk Region police department discovered that a 38-year-old man was planning to organize killing of a 43-year-old local resident for a reward.

To prevent the crime from happening and to hold the person who had contracted the murder, a decision was made to fake the crime. A police officer posed as a hitman. For the job done the “killer” was to get a plot of land and a house in Kaliningrad Region.

The investigators and police officers recreated the crime scene in every detail: they put a person with fake traces of gunshot wounds in a car, while a police crew was working outside the car seizing cartridge cases and other physical evidence.

On the same day, the evidence presented to the client made him sure that the target had been hit. After that, the perpetrator and the client went to a notary to make a proper agreement on the reward. Immediately after the documents were signed at the notary, on 25 January 2018, the suspect was detained and later in the day placed into a pre-trial detention center.

At present, following a request of the investigator, the man has been put in custody pending trial, while the investigation continues.
