Participants of mass riots at Khovanskoye cemetery to stand trial
The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished investigation in mass riots that happened at Khovanskoye cemetery in Moscow in July 2016. Depending on the role of each one, 17 accused people are charged with organization of mass riots under Part 1 of Article 212, participation in mass riots under Part 2 of Article 212, infliction of grievous bodily harm entailing death of two people under Part 4 of Article 111 and exceeding authority entailing grievous consequences under part 3, item “c” of Article 286 of the RF Penal Code.
Three people were killed and more than 30 were wounded during a fight and a shootout near the central entrance to Khovanskoye cemetery in Moscow. The investigators managed to restore a complete picture of the events that took place on 14 May 2016. They found out that Chabuyev, head of Moscow territorial department of ritual services No 3 Ritual and Bocharnikov had organized mass riots to oust working migrants, citizens of Tajikistan, from Khovanskoye cemetery.
Sergei Ulyuikhin admitted the guilt and gave evidence against other people involved in the crimes, while Vladimir Kolesnikov admitted the guilt up to a point.
The investigation was complicated by a large number of investigative and procedural operations and forensic examinations such as ballistic, medical, portrait, DNA and dactylographic ones.
There is enough evidence now, so the criminal case with the signed indictment is going to be referred to court.
Cases against other participants of the mass riots who are now wanted have been severed to form separate lawsuits.
