In the Khabarovsk Territory, a local resident was convicted of sexual assault against girls who were under his care

The evidence gathered by the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Khabarovsk Territory was found to be sufficient by the court to find a 38-year-old man guilty of the crimes under Article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape), Article 132 (sexual abuse), Article 133 (compulsion to perform sexual actions), Article 135 (molesting), Article 117 (torture), Article 156 (improper discharge of duty in raising minors).

The investigation and the court established that being the guardian of young and underage girls the convicted committed crimes against them from September 2012 to February 2017. During the investigation the man fully admitted his guilt.

In the course of investigation of criminal case, the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory was sent a submission demanding the elimination of the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of crimes against child victims. According to the results of consideration of the submission, one official of the guardianship authorities was dismissed, another was subject to disciplinary punishment.

The court sentenced the accused to 22.5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony with a strict regime.

It should be noted that the investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Khabarovsk Territory completed the investigation of the criminal case against an employee of the guardianship authorities accused of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence), Part 1 of Article 292 (forgery). At the moment, the criminal case is being considered in court.
