The Orel Region investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal investigation into provision of services which do not meet standards of safety to lives or health of consumers and have entailed by negligence the death of people (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia), with reference to a road accident involving public transport taken place today at Polesskaya Street in Orel.

Preliminary data show that the road accident entailed the deaths of three persons, including a minor, and two persons were admitted to Orel health facilities with varying severity of injuries.

The crime scene is being examined by the investigators and forensic experts of the regional office of the Investigative Committee. In addition, design documents of the trolley bus involved in the accident is being seized from the vehicle operator entity. The investigative actions are being taken required to define all the circumstances of the committed offense.
