Under Alexander Bastrykin's instructions, probe into provision of services not meeting safety requirements of lives and health of consumers, entailed people's deaths in road accident in Chuvashia, was handed over to Central Office of Investigative Committee of Russia

Under instructions of Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russia, a criminal probe into an offense under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (rendering of services which do not meet standards of safety, entailed the death of two or more persons) related to a road accident in the Chuvash Republic that resulted in human losses, was handed over to Central Office of Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for most comprehensive and impartial investigation.

On the evening of October 11, 2018, a Mercedes-Benz truck and a Fiat Ducato minibus collided on the M-7 Volga highway near the village of Bolshaya Karachury of Cheboksary District. As the result of traffic accident, 11 minibus passengers were killed.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed, as soon as possible, to seize technical documentation related to the operation and departure of the vehicles; to give a legal assessment of the actions of the individual entrepreneur who owned the Fiat Ducato minibus and of the management of the commercial organization that rented the truck. The investigators were also instructed to establish why the minibus did not undergo a pre-trip inspection, was not equipped with a tachograph, had no documents for the trip; why the driver did not undergo medical examination. The investigators were instructed to define the technical condition of all vehicles and to assess the actions of all persons responsible for road safety, without exceptions.
