Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia requests for probe for swindling committed by medical officers in Tver Region to be transferred to Central Office

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation requested for the probe for swindling committed by medical officers of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Higher Education “Tver State Medical University” through their official position (Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia) to be transferred to the Central Office for comprehensive and impartial investigation.

Moreover, the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia will assess all the evidence already gathered and other materials that provided grounds for launching the probe and electing preventive measures for the suspects. Also, due to incoming appeals about violations of the patients’ and doctors’ rights during investigation, the Central Office will examine the actions taken by the investigators.

Alexander Bastrykin also instructed to assess the legitimacy of the investigative attitude towards the elected preventive measures for the suspects.

It must be noted that the investigative attitude towards truth-seeking remains constant for every probe. This case is not an exception. The fact of launching the probe itself does not serve as an evidence of guilt of the doctor. The investigation will establish all circumstances of the case. At this, a goal of the investigation is to avoid any baseless accusation of medical officers and violation of the patients’ and doctors’ rights.
