Under instructions of Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia, probe launched in Moscow Region into child found in entrance hall of apartment building

Under an instruction of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russia Alexander Bastrykin, the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched a probe into an offence under Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Russia (failure to discharge the duties of bringing up a minor) and Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Russia (abandoning to danger), following a media report about discovery of a child in an entrance hall of an apartment building.

According to preliminary data, on October 14, 2018, residents of the apartment building in Shchyolkovo, Moscow Region, discovered a boy approximately 1.5 years old in their entrance hall. A medical examination carried out in a hospital did not prove any bodily harm.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed investigators to soundly coordinate the search for the boy's parents and relatives with emergency services and volunteers. The investigation will also assess information about a possible offence committed against relatives of the child. At the moment, the investigators are defining all the circumstances. They also requested available materials from the police for admission to the case file.
