In Tomsk Region, man accused of killing 10-year-old girl detained

The Tomsk Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation detained a man accused of killing a 10-year-old girl.

We will remind that, on September 30, 2018, in Tomsk Region, the 10-year-old girl had left home and never returned. Following the girl’s grandmother’s claim to law enforcement authorities on the disappearance of the child, the Tomsk Regional Office of the Investigative Committee had immediately launched a probe under Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a minor).

Due to use of modern forensic equipment by experienced forensic investigators of the regional investigative office, the body of the child with signs of violent death was found in a forest in Narga rural settlement within 24 hours. The forensic investigators used a thermal camera, a forensic light source, and a quadrocopter to conduct the search activities. An examination of the crime scene was conducted, forensic examinations were ordered, and witnesses are being questioned. In addition, with help of modern criminological equipment, it was possible to promptly detain a 34-year-old accused of committing the most serious offence against the child.

Currently, he has been taken to the Investigations Department of the regional Investigative Committee of Russia, where investigative actions are being carried out with him. The circumstances and the motive for the crime are being clarified. The preventive measure is being decided upon. Possible involvement of the man in commission of similar crimes will also be established.

As part of the investigation, a number of forensic examinations were ordered, witnesses are being interrogated, and other investigative actions are being carried out.
