Under instruction of Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia, probe into blast in Arkhangelsk Regional Directorate of FSB referred to Central Office of Committee for further investigation

Under an instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, a probe into a blast in the Arkhangelsk Regional Directorate of FSB was referred to the Central Office of the Committee for further investigation.

As it has been mentioned, this morning, an explosion detonated in the entrance of the building of the Arkhangelsk Regional Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia. In the explosion, a 17-year-old male local resident was killed who brought the self-made explosive device with him to the building. Three FSB employees were injured in the explosion. With regard to that, the Arkhangelsk and Nenets Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal investigation into offences under Article 205 (terrorism) and Part 1 of Article 222 (illegal bearing of explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed to establish in the shortest time possible the motive of the offence committed by the minor; the reasons and conditions that had entailed that; and the origins of the explosive device. The investigative team will thoroughly examine the minor's social circle, relationships, and environment in his family and the college where he had been studying. In addition, information will be checked on possible involvement of the perpetrator in banned organizations. The investigators are conducting searches in the suspect's place of residence, questioning his close relatives, acquaintances and other individuals who may have the information relevant to the investigation. Explosive, forensic and other examinations have been arranged.
