In Krasnodar Territory, probe launched into retired justice of the peace of Lazarevsky District of Sochi
Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, opened a criminal investigation into a former justice of the peace of Lazarevsky District of Sochi suspected of an attempt of mediation in bribery on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 30; Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia).
According to the investigation, the Lazarevsky District court of Sochi had ruled upon a civil claim on cancellation of a deal on transfer of rights for land lease. The judgement had come into force. The claimant, who had not agreed with the judgement against his favour, had addressed a lawyer to help him file an appeal. In his turn, the lawyer had addressed the judge, who had clarified the conditions required to cancel the judgement and to make an agreement for it with judiciary officials for 2 million roubles. At that, the men had decided to ask 3 million roubles from the claimant to keep 1 million to themselves. Following that, the lawyer had told the claimant he would deliver his money in the amount of 3.5 million roubles, thus having increased the sum on his own discretion. In March 2017, the lawyer had received the money from the claimant and delivered 2.7 million roubles to the judge. Any further actions of them had been suppressed by operating officers of the Regional Directorate of the Federal Security Service.
The investigation was handed over to the Krasnodar Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
In addition, the Krasnodar Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal investigation into the lawyer's committing an offence under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
At the moment, investigative actions are being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the committed offense.
