Alexander Bastrykin holds meeting on educational system development in Investigative Committee


The Chairman of the Investigative Committee held a working meeting with chiefs of several Directorates of the Central Office and educational facilities of the Committee to discuss matters of development of the Committee’s educational system.

Alexander Bastrykin raised a few sequential questions on educational system optimisation and personnel training for deployment in the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Having listened to reporters, the Chairman noted that the Committee’s educational system and personnel training needed expansion. In particular, the attendees discussed matters of rationale for launching a new cadet school in North-Caucasus Region and for expanding higher-education system by adding five branches of the Saint Petersburg and Moscow Academies of the Investigative Committee in Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on Don, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, and Yekaterinburg.

The attendees provided special attention to the matter of increasing of the quality of the education. With reference to that, Alexander Bastrykin instructed to specify the regulatory structure for competitive admission by setting higher standards for professional knowledge, physical and psychological condition of candidates.

The attendees worked over a complex of measures to improve social environment for students and teachers. Notably, the Chairman instructed the Chief of the Main Activity Management Directorate to study the possibility to raise students’ scholarships based on the available budget, as soon as possible.

The present need of high-quality personnel entails the need to increase the number of students of the higher-education institutions, including through implementation of extramural education in the Academies of the Investigative Committee.

Also, the Chairman set a task to attract scientific research of students and experts to investigative activities. With reference to that, the Education Department was instructed to develop a research plan of the Academy based on issues presenting during investigation of offences of various categories.

To sum up the meeting, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed to fulfil the set tasks in the shortest time possible, as follows: firstly, to work over launching of the Academy branches in Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk; to improve the efficiency of postgraduate training institutions; to elaborate contracts signed with students by calculating the exact sum the state spends on their education.

In order to supervise the progress on said instructions, Alexander Bastrykin decided upon making the Education Department of his immediate subordination.
