Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia instructs Central Office to supervise pre-investigation probe into violation of housing rights of Great Patriotic War veteran

Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed the Central Office of the Committee to supervise the process of a pre-investigation probe launched by the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate upon information about violation of housing rights of a 93-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War and his wife.

The pre-investigation probe was initiated after a mass media report. According to media, unidentified persons had obtained by fraudulent means a two-room apartment located in Golyanovo District belonging to the veteran born in 1925.

Alexander Bastrykin ordered to give a comprehensive legal assessment of all the circumstances outlined in the publication and establish what had happened in detail. The pre-investigative probe will result in a procedural decision.
